Three Hispanic State Senators from Texas were the only Democrats to vote for Senate Bill 16 yesterday, which proposes to force doctors to describe the fetus on a pregnant patient's sonogram — including cardiac activity, internal organs and limbs– at least two hours before performing an abortion.

Last week we reported on a bill in the Texas State Legislature that, if passed, would force doctors to verbally describe sonograms to women at least 24 hours before performing an abortion, even if the patient declines to see her sonogram. This weekend, local Austin news station KXAN interviewed State Senator Dan Patrick who authored the bill.

Texas Committee Approves Forced Songram Bill For Abortion Patients
A bill that would force abortion providers to describe a woman's sonogram to her at least 24 hours before getting an abortion has been approved by a Senate committee and will be in front of the State Senate as early as next week.
