Girl Scouts of America has launched a multi-pronged bilingual campaign to reach Hispanic girls and their parents. According to a press release, this is in response to recent data which says Hispanics are one of the only groups in this country producing a growing number of kids.
From LEADER, the Girl Scouts of the USA magazine for adult volunteers, "[By 2020] one in every five U.S. children under age 18 will be Hispanic. How do Girl Scouts respond? To be prepared, of course!"
The press release goes on to say that "GSUSA has secured more than $10 million in donated exposure in Spanish-language media ranging from Telemundo to People en Español," as well as developing an entire website and collatorals written in Spanish.
Girl Scouts of North Texas, which serves 40 counties in a state that, according to the 2010 Census, owes all its growth in the past decade to Hispanic families, has also launched an entire site in Spanish.
