Dilma Rousseff won Brazil's presidential run-off election last night with 56% of the vote over opponent Jose Serra's 44 per cent. She becomes the first woman president of Brazil. The U.S.? Still a sausage party.
Rousseff was predicted to win because she was hand-picked by current president Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, one of Brazil's most popular presidents. In her victory speech in the capital yesterday, Rousseff told voters her first priority is gender equality along with hunger relief for the 20 million impoverished Brazilians. Her term begins January 1 of next year.
